Springfield, Ill. | April 28 2026 | FY27 Long-Term Care Provider Fund (CSFA #402-05-1487) | The Long-Term Care Provider Fund will be used to improve protection of the health and safety of residents in long-term care facilities through the expansion of Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program services. Long-Term Care Ombudsmen are advocates for residents of nursing homes and residential care communities. Ombudsmen provide information about resident rights. Under the federal Older Americans Act, every state is required to have an Ombudsman Program that addresses complaints and advocates for improvements in the long-term care system. Springfield, Ill. | April 23 2026 | FY27 FAC Family Advocacy Centers (CSFA #418-00-1315) | Core Services that Family Advocacy Centers (FACs) must offer to all clients must include advocacy, mentoring, parent support and training, general counseling, employment readiness training, support family and youth development, 18-21 services including Financial Literacy Training, and DCFS Alumni Services. These services may be one on one according to the specific needs of the client or in a classroom or group setting using a specific curriculum or through a network linkage with a community partner. FAC Providers must use evidence-based models of practice. Washington, D.C. | April 13 2026 | Specialty Crop Research Initiative (USDA-NIFA-SCRI-011676) | The purpose of the SCRI program is to address the critical needs of the specialty crops industries (as defined in Appendix III) by awarding grants to support research and extension that address key challenges of national, regional, and multi-state importance in sustaining all components of food and agriculture, including conventional and organic food production systems. The program recognizes that for some specialty crops that are grown in a limited number of states, the multi-state nature of projects can be difficult to address. Washington, D.C. | April 7 2026 | Critical Minerals and Materials Accelerator Notice of Funding Opportunity (DE-FOA-0003589) | This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) supports critical minerals and materials. Critical minerals and materials (CMM) are the building blocks for technologies foundational to U.S. energy dominance, national security, and industrial competitiveness. To build a secure domestic supply of CMMs, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) aims to support collaborative industry partnerships to prototype and pilot innovative processing technologies that are currently only proven at the bench scale to address CMM challenges in high impact areas. The CMM Accelerator program will advance these mid-stage innovations through validation, benchmarking, access to national lab test beds, testing in industry relevant environments, technoeconomic analysis, and life-cycle assessment. The program establishes a pipeline to support technology maturation to ultimately unlock private capital investments. It also will leverage other DOE lab-based activities, such as the Critical Materials Innovation Hub (CMI Hub) and the Minerals to Materials Supply Chain Research Facility (METALLIC). Washington, D.C. | April 3 2026 | 2026-2 US Standard Grants (F26AS00026-NAWCA) | The U.S. Standard Grants Program is a competitive, matching grant program that supports public-private partnerships carrying out projects in the United States that further the goals of the North American Wetlands Conservation Act. The program promotes partnerships projects that must involve a) only long-term protection, restoration, and/or enhancement of wetland and associated upland habitats to benefit a variety of wetland ecosystems and b) maintaining an abundance of waterfowl (ducks, geese, and swans) and other populations of wetlands-associated migratory birds consistent with the objectives of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan, U.S. Shorebird Conservation Plan, Waterbird Conservation Plan for the Americas, and Partners in Flight Bird Conservation Plan. Joliet, Ill. | April 22 2026 | Underwood Announces More Than $30 Million for Local Priorities Selected for Community Project Funding | Today, Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced the projects in the 14th District submitted for consideration for Community Project Funding in FY2027. If funded, the projects below will have extraordinary benefits for our community: ensuring access to safe and reliable drinking water, strengthening rural access to health care, helping residents get good jobs, providing vulnerable populations access to necessities like emergency shelter and food, and making public transit stronger in northern Illinois.

Springfield, Ill. | April 20 2026 | Governor Pritzker Awards 95 Loans to Licensed Social Equity Cannabis Businesses Across All License Types | Today, Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced the recipients of $31.8 million in loans through Round III of the Cannabis Social Equity Loan Program. Through the program, 95 qualified, licensed social equity businesses across all license types – craft growers, dispensaries, infusers, and transporters – are receiving Direct Forgivable Loans (DFL) financed by the State of Illinois. Recipients were determined based on factors including social equity status, financial need, financial resources, and progress toward becoming operational…After providing approximately $23.3 million through the first two rounds of the Cannabis Social Equity Loan Program – including $18.3 million to craft growers, infusers, and transporters in Round I, and $5 million to dispensaries in Round II – DCEO opened Round III to include all license types. Loan recipients include social equity craft growers, infusers, transporters, and dispensaries licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). 

Springfield, Ill. | April 20 2026 | IDNR and NOAA award nearly $1 million in grants for Illinois’ Lake Michigan shoreline protection and management | The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Coastal Management Program has awarded $970,770 in grants to Illinois organizations for coastal education, recreation, water quality monitoring, planning, design and engineering projects along the Lake Michigan shoreline. The Coastal Management Program is a federal-state partnership between IDNR and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that provides federal funding directly to communities in the Illinois coastal region. This round of grants will support local organizations working on habitat restoration, environmental education and stewardship, and coastal resiliency. The eight grant-funded projects span the entirety of Illinois’ Lake Michigan coastline. They will empower communities, educational institutions, non-profits, park districts and forest preserve districts to improve the state’s coastal resources and engage local youth and adults in stewardship and enjoyment of Lake Michigan and surrounding natural resources.

Rantoul, Ill. | April 16 2026 | Grant money opens door to $36 million in upgrades at Rantoul National Aviation Center | The Rantoul National Aviation Center (RNAC) is now eligible for grants that will help the airport make an estimated $36.4 million in improvements. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation (FAA) announced Thursday that RNAC is eligible for grants under the Military Airport Program (MAP) in fiscal year 2027. The MAP provides funding to former or current military airports. RNAC was established in 1993 after Chanute Air Force Base was decommissioned…The airport’s projects eligible for MAP funding during the five-year period include updating the airport layout plan, improvements to the runway safety area, rehabilitating lighting and drainage, building two taxiways, expanding hangar facilities, and upgrading the fuel farm.

Springfield, Ill. | April 15 2026 |Governor Pritzker Announces Over 60 Tourism Grant Program Awards | Today, Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced more than $4.85 million in grant funding has been awarded to 66 grantees through three grant programs – the Tourism Attractions Grant Program ($2 million), Tourism Marketing Partnership Grant Program ($2.25 million), and Tourism Private Sector Grant Program ($598,900) – as part of the State’s efforts to build upon the record-breaking tourism industry and welcome more visitors to Illinois. 

Springfield, Ill. | April 13 2026 | Illinoisans invited to join statewide storytelling initiative ‘Illinois Voices 250’ with Illinois Humanities and StoryCorps Studios | The Illinois America 250 Commission invites people from across Illinois to participate in Illinois Voices 250, a statewide effort to record conversations with residents as part of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Recorded conversations will be preserved at the U.S. Library of Congress. The initiative is led by the Illinois America 250 Commission in partnership with Illinois Humanities and StoryCorps Studios. Illinois Voices 250 is the most expansive effort yet to ensure Illinois’ commemoration of the nation’s birthday is inclusive, accessible and statewide. People can participate in public community recording events happening around the state or use the do-it-yourself option online at il250.org/il-voices. Springfield, Ill. | April 10 2026 | $5 million state grant to help buy land for industrial ‘megasite’ in metro-east | America’s Central Port in Granite City has been awarded a $5 million state grant to help it buy 350 acres of metro-east farmland that could become a rail-served industrial “megasite.” The term “rail-served” is key, according to Dennis Wilmsmeyer, executive director of the port, a special governmental unit that operates a logistics hub along the Mississippi River and promotes economic development throughout southwestern Illinois.
