Washington, D.C. | November 13 2025 | FY 2025 Continuum of Care Competition and Youth Homeless Demonstration Program Grants NOFO (FR-6900-N-25) | The Continuum of Care (CoC) Program is designed to: promote a community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, States, Indian Tribes or Tribally Designated Housing Entities, and local governments to quickly rehouse individuals and families experiencing homelessness, persons experiencing trauma or a lack of safety related to fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, and youth experiencing homelessness while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused by homelessness; promote access to, and effective utilization of, mainstream programs and programs funded with State or local resources; and optimize self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

The goal of the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) is to support the development and implementation of a coordinated community approach to preventing and ending youth homelessness and sharing that experience with and mobilizing communities around the country toward the same end. The population to be served by the demonstration program is youth ages 24 and younger who are experiencing homelessness, including unaccompanied and pregnant or parenting youth.

Springfield, Ill. | November 21 2025 | Job Training Economic Development Program (420-30-0513) | he objective of this NOFO is to address the economic impacts experienced by employers and individuals who are either under-employed, unemployed, or underrepresented individuals facing one or more barriers to employment by providing career pathway opportunities and support services needed for successful re-entry or advancement into the labor force. Additionally, the NOFO offers flexible funding through barrier reduction services, which will support accumulated emergency costs for basic needs. The organization seeking to use funds for barrier reduction services must have policies and procedures to account for the grant funds and prevent fraud or misuse of barrier reduction funds. Estimated Awards: 25. Total Funding: $10,000,000. Award Ceiling: $750,000. Closing Date: January 16 2026. 

Washington, D.C. | November 20 2025 | FY26 Guidelines for Brownfield Assessment Grants (Community-wide Assessment Grants for States and Tribes)(EPA-I-OLEM-OBLR-25-06) | The Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization is announcing the availability of $35 million dollars for approximately 18 assessment grants. Community-wide Assessment Grants for States and Tribes provide funding for developing inventories of brownfield sites, prioritizing sites, conducting community involvement activities, conducting planning, conducting site assessments, developing site-specific cleanup plans, and developing reuse plans related to brownfield sites. These funds may not be used to conduct cleanup activities. Estimated Awards: 18. Total Funding: $35,000,000. Award Ceiling: $2,000,000. Closing Date: January 28 2026. 

Washington, D.C. | November 20 2025 | FY26 Guidelines for Brownfield Cleanup Grants (EPA-I-OLEM-OBLR-25-07) | The Office of Brownfields and Land Revitalization is announcing the availability of $107 million dollars for approximately 36 cleanup grants. Cleanup Grants provide funding to carry out cleanup activities at brownfield sites owned by the applicant. The goal of the grant program is to clean up contaminated properties with the aim of facilitating their sustainable reuse. Estimated Awards: 26. Total Funding: $107,000,000. Award Ceiling: $4,000,000. Closing Date: January 28 2026. 

Springfield, Ill. | November 17, 2025 | SBIR/STTR Match Program (CSFA 420-35-2382) | This program will provide a state match to companies that have received a Phase I award through a federal SBIR or STTR grant program. The maximum award under this program may not exceed $75,000. Seventy-five percent (75%) of the total grant shall be remitted to the business upon receipt of the SBIR/STTR Phase I award and application for funds. The remaining twenty-five percent (25%) of the total grant shall be remitted to the business upon submission by the business of the Phase II application to the federal funding agency and acceptance of the final Phase I report by the federal funding agency. Phase II Match This program will provide a state match to companies that have received a Phase II award through a federal SBIR or STTR grant program. The maximum award under this program may not exceed $250,000. Fifty (50%) of the total grant shall be remitted to the business upon receipt of the SBIR/STTR Phase II award and application for funds. The remaining fifty (50%) of the total grant shall be remitted to the business upon submission by the business of the Phase II final report to the federal funding agency. Estimated Awards: 55. Springfield, Ill. | November 14 2025 | ETIP Strategic Sectors Single Company Grant (420-45-0516) | The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (the “Department” or “DCEO”) is issuing this Notice of Funding Opportunity (“NOFO”) to set forth the requirements for the Employer Training Investment Program (ETIP) – Single Company Grant Program. This program provides qualified companies with an award of up to 50% of the approved eligible costs to provide structured job training programs and job skill enhancement opportunities to their full-time Illinois-based workforce. Special consideration will be given to applicants in targeted sectors as identified in the 2024 Illinois Economic Plan, including Life Sciences, Quantum Computing, AI, and Microelectronics, Clean Energy Production and Manufacturing, Advanced Manufacturing, Next Generation Agriculture, Ag Tech, and Food Processing, Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics (TDL). Estimated Awards: 7. Springfield, Ill. | November 6 2025 | Driving a Cleaner Illinois – Climate and Equitable Jobs Act EV Charging Round 3 | This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to inform potential applicants of the availability of funds from the Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan for electric vehicle charging projects authorized under the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act as part of the Driving a Cleaner Illinois Program. Under this NOFO, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) will fund a portion of the eligible costs associated with new, commercial-grade Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC, also known as level 3) and Alternating Current level 2 charging stations for electric vehicles, to be located at publicly accessible charging station locations in Illinois. This program funds the construction of electric vehicle chargers at public locations across the state. Chargers must be available to the public 24/7. Additional funding will be awarded to projects located in Equity Investment Eligible Communities. Projects will be scored as they are submitted on a first-come, first-served basis, with a minimum score of 50 required for a project to be funded. Consistent with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s national program purpose, Illinois SBDCs deliver professional, high-quality, individualized, confidential one-on-one advising and technical assistance to existing small businesses and pre-venture entrepreneurs. Springfield, Ill. | October 31 2025 | Governor Pritzker Launches $32 Million in Funding for Regional Site Readiness Program | This is the second Notice of Funding Opportunity for the Regional Site Readiness Program – Capital Ready. The Regional Site Readiness Program was started in Fiscal Year 2025 to create a more comprehensive state-wide strategy that builds on prior experience establishing the Megasites Development Program and complements Illinois Economic Development Corporation’s (Illinois EDC) existing Vetted Sites Program. Last year’s FY25 Regional Site Readiness Program – Capital Ready provided funding for infrastructure improvements at 11 sites across the state. Project sites that received funding under the FY25 Regional Site Readiness Program are eligible sites in for the FY26 Regional Site Readiness…Illinois EDC’s Vetted Sites Program identifies the top sites in Illinois based on a series of characteristics

Evanston, Ill. | November 28 2025 | Northwestern University to pay $75 million to federal government to settle antisemitism claims, restore frozen funds | Northwestern University will pay $75 million to the federal government over the next three years to end an antisemitism investigation by the Trump administration and restore hundreds of millions of dollars in frozen funds. The agreement was announced Friday night by the university and the Trump administration, which froze $790 million in federal funds for Northwestern in April, accusing the school of fostering antisemitism on campus.

Chicago, Ill. | November 24 2025 | Addressing Immediate Food Insecurity in Chicago with $1.5 Million | MacArthur today announced $1.5 million in rapid-response funding to address heightened food insecurity across Chicago following the lapse of federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits during the government shutdown earlier this month. The largest grant, $500,000, will support the Greater Chicago Food Depository with general operating funds to bolster its citywide hunger-relief network. Ten additional community-based organizations operating food pantries, delivery, and related services will receive $100,000 each to meet urgent needs in neighborhoods significantly affected by food insecurity.

Chicago, Ill. | November 21 2025 | Exclusive: Chicago rejects DOJ grants tied to Trump’s immigration policies | Chicago will not apply for federal community violence intervention grants after the Trump administration reshaped the program to focus on law enforcement and immigration, the city said this week, calling the new stipulations an effort to politicize public safety. “The city of Chicago does not intend to apply for any federal grants that require the city to comply with President Trump’s political aims,” Mayor Brandon Johnson’s press office said in a statement first shared with Reuters.

Springfield, Ill. | November 21 2025 | Governor Pritzker Awards $10 Million to Illinois Small Businesses | Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) joined businessowners, legislators, and community stakeholders at Soul Good Coffee to announce nearly $10 million in funding for 47 small businesses through the Small Business Capital and Infrastructure Grant Program. This funding will uplift businesses owned by historically underrepresented groups and very small businesses, helping them create and retain jobs, improve efficiency, and grow local economies.

Chicago, Ill. | November 19 2025 | Poetry Foundation Awards $1.3 Million in Grants |  The Poetry Foundation is excited to announce that 52 nonprofit poetry-based organizations, publications, presses, and literary arts service organizations received $1,345,000 in general operating support grants in the fall 2025 grant cycle. Selected from 137 grant applications, these organizations are dedicated to expanding access to poetry and supporting poets through publishing, fellowships, and residencies, as well as offering public events and workshops for both youth and adults. In 2025, the Foundation awarded more than $3 million in grants to support poetry and other literary arts nationwide. Illinois recipients: Stomping Grounds Literary Arts Initiative ($25,000) and RHINO Poetry ($10,000).  

Chicago, Ill. | November 19 2025 | Inaugural ‘Wealth Our Way’ Grants Provide More Than $2 Million for Shared-Ownership Businesses | Six shared-ownership business projects across Chicago will be supported by more than $2 million in grant awards announced today by the Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD) and Community Desk Chicago. The projects are the first selected through the collaborative Wealth Our Way (WOW) initiative, which is intended to support community wealth-building goals through worker cooperatives, community investment vehicles and other shared-ownership business models. The funding will enable workplace buildouts for a food manufacturer, an artist collective, a health care provider and other neighborhood-oriented business enterprises.

Springfield, Ill. | November 17 2025 | Illinois groups urge Trump Administration to reconsider plan they say risks homelessness | Securing federal funding to address homelessness could turn into a competition across the nation. Last Thursday the U.S. The Department of Housing and Urban Development announced a competitive grant application to secure funding. The grant is officially known as the 2025 Fiscal Year Continuum of Care competition, with an announcement of 3.9 billion in funding. The Trump administration said the COC program was intended to be a national competition to select the most effective and innovative programs.

Chicago, Ill. | November 17 2025 | Bronzeville’s historic arts center’s glow-up boosted by new $2 million grant | The South Side Community Art Center — a Bronzeville landmark that has been an artistic home for generations of Black creatives such as Margaret Burroughs, Gordon Parks and Kerry James Marshall — received a $2 million grant to help restore its historic building and construct a major addition…The award from Chicago’s Driehaus Foundation goes toward the project’s $15 million project budget. Brinkman-Hill said some work, including the installation of underground geothermal systems that will heat and cool the buildings’ interior, is already underway.

November 6, 2025 | FHLBank Chicago Awards $52 Million in Affordable Housing Grants to Strengthen Communities throughout Illinois and Wisconsin | The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLBank Chicago) today announced it has awarded $52 million through its 2025 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) General Fund round to help finance 37 housing projects located in Illinois and Wisconsin. This funding will enable the acquisition, rehabilitation, and new construction of over 1,600 housing units…Since program inception in 1989 through year-end 2024, FHLBank Chicago has allocated more than $550 million in AHP General Fund grants, helping provide housing for over 83,000 households. The 2025 award recipients will support a range of communities—including rural, urban and tribal areas—and populations such as seniors, veterans, and working families.

Chicago, Ill. | November 3 2025 | ComEd Partners with Clean Energy Developers on $10 Million Utility Low-Income Grant Program | ComEd, BAP Power LLC (operating as Cenergy), and ESP Solar LLC (ESP) recently announced a landmark, five-year collaboration on a Low-Income Grant Program valued at up to $10 million for income-eligible ComEd customers. The grants will be delivered as utility bill credits to pre-selected ComEd customers who meet specific criteria, including qualifying for a Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) grant…Funding for the grants will be derived from Cenergy and ESP’s community solar projects located primarily within the ComEd service territory. For instance, a few initial projects are located in Kankakee County, Dekalb County and Livingston County.

Springfield, Ill. | November 2 2025 | Illinois Housing Development Authority Announces $15 Million for Home Improvement and Repair for Illinois Households | The Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) today announced $15 million in grants to 34 local government and nonprofit organizations to administer the state’s Home Repair and Accessibility Program (HRAP). Through HRAP, eligible homeowners can receive up to $50,000 to make critical health, safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency repairs to their homes.
